The Magnolia Plantation

The Magnolia Plantation is the oldest public tourist site in the area, and the oldest public gardens in America. Doors opened to the public in 1870 which offered a breathtaking view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. Today it is that and much more.

The Gardens

Full of beauty and variety, some sections of the garden are known to be more than 325 years old. Various varieties of flowers in the garden include camellias, daffodils, azaleas and many other species that bloom all year.

The House

The main house was built before the Revolutionary War offsite and floated to place down the Ashley River. Ten rooms are open to the public and furnished with antiques. Guides will offer living history of the house for 30-45 minutes.

Nature Train

At over 600 acres the property can be near impossible to see on foot. Kick up your feet and hop on the nature train for an hour long experience of local wildlife and history. The tram will run along marshes, lakes and forests as guides point out alligators, turtles and herons in their natural environment.

Nature Boat

The Ashley River has played a role over the years as anything else, and continues to here. Take a smooth boat ride down the river with your captain exploring nature at its best. Like the train this is a great way to see the most while taking a break from walking the property.

Petting Zoo

If you like animals up close, and especially if you have kids, this is the place for you. Feed goats and deer or get an up-close look at a number of reptiles. No matter your age, the petting zoo and nature center is an experience not to be missed.
